February 2008

February was a very hectic month for me! (no change there then!)
The month began with a FREEZING! photo shoot with a bus company in York. Shortly after the Photo below was taken it started snowing, that's how cold it was!
The next day I drove to Sheffield, to the 'Jack Eames studio' where I took part in a photo shoot of the 'Official Miss England Bikini' which has been designed and made by Aguaclara, and will go on sale on the 4th April. I had lots of fun posing for the photographs.
Not stopping for a second, I then drove to Coventry where on Sunday 3rd Feb I went to watch the Deaf England Rugby team play in a match against Wales. It was really exciting to watch a live match! and to top it off I got to have my picture taken with all the team! A injured player called Tim looked after me very well, and we had lots to talk about as we were both deaf in our Right ear!
Here is a Photo of me showing Tim how to clap in Sign Language

On the 13th Feb I took part in a photo shoot for the National Express where I donned a Fabulous mini dress made from rail tickets! Once again I was very cold! but a little cold never hurt anyone!
On the 18th I had a very interesting interview with RNID magazine 'One in Seven'. The lady interviewing me was completely deaf and we had a typist there who typed everything down so the lady who interviewed me could see what I was saying on a computer screen.

Probably one of the highlights of my time as Miss England happened on the 22nd Feb. I attended the one and only, Bruce Forsyth's Birthday Party! I had the most AMAZING night! and saw so many fabulous celebrities. For the first part of the night myself and 3 other girls dressed up as show girls to welcome the guests, we then changed into our evening dresses and danced the night away!

The fun continued, when on the 25th and 26th Feb I went to the Swimwear exhibition in Harrogate to Model the Miss England Bikini. I opened the catwalk on my own, which although a little bit daunting was great fun.
So a busy and exciting February, lets hope march brings more of the same!

January 2008

So after a nice relaxing Christmas, I am now eager to get back to work as Miss England!

January has been great fun so far and I can’t wait for February to start as I have lots of events to attend, but I will tell you about them in my next instalment!

So far this month I have been to Cambridge to record my ‘Miss England Top Tips’ help line. This was really good fun, and I felt like a pop star in the recording studio! So if any of you need some help in the run up to your heats or the Miss England semi final then don’t hesitate to phone the help line, which is full of my own advice on how to win!

On Friday 25th Jan, I went to Leamington Spa to crown the winner of Miss Warwick and Leamington Spa, Amy. There were lots of media there taking photographs and it was very nice to meet one of the semi finalists.

On sat 26th Jan, I went to London to open a catwalk at the Asian woman fashion Runway. I wore a bright read beaded gown made by Seduze, and walked on stage and made a small speech to welcome everyone and open the show.

So a very exciting January!

On Tue 11th Dec I went to the ‘Clothes Show’ at the NEC in Birmingham where I presented on one of the small stages. It was so much fun and I really enjoyed presenting the show. It was a mini beauty competition, to try and find the next ‘Miss Teen Queen’.

On Saturday 15th I had my 21st Birthday party. The theme was superheroes and villains! I had such a good night and all my friends made such an effort to dress up!
Me with the wonderful cake my Mother made me!

Super Girl, Ghostbuster, Bat Girl, Army Girl, Wonder Woman and Super Woman!!

Me and my fellow Ghost buster and the Power Rangers!

On Thursday 20th I went to Bristol where I presented two workers with special awards for doing there part to help someone, or a charity. The two men who received the awards were over the moon.

For the rest of December I spent some well-needed time with all my friends and family. I had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas, and a very happy new year.

November 2007

I would have to say November was the most amazing month of my life!

I set off on the 31st October to China to compete in the Miss World 2007 final!

When I arrived I was greeted at the airport by my Chaperone's for the month, Kat and Imogen. I travelled all the way from Heathrow airport with Miss Wales (Kelly) who was so lovely and put me at ease. We arrived at the hotel and were greeted with huge coconut cocktails and beautiful flower crowns! The Hotel was beautiful and our rooms were amazing!
Me and the girls I arrived with, the bottom picture is the hotel pool!

The first week was quite relaxed as we waited for the other contestants to arrive, and were given time to get over our jet lag!
The next 3 weeks were full of rehearsals, interviews, filming, and travelling. All the girls began to get to know each other and I made some wonderful friends. Miss Ireland, Miss Wales and Miss Gibraltar are such lovely and kind girls and they will defiantly be friends for life.
Miss Ireland, Miss Wales, Me ans Miss Gibraltar

Miss China (now Miss World), Miss Hong Kong China, Miss Guatemala and me.

All of the things we did were amazing. We went to Beijing where we visited the Great Wall of China, and recorded the Miss World Beijing Olympics Song! We had the sports round on the beach, which was a lot of fun.
During the month we spent quite a lot of time rehearsing for an amazing Chinese Fashion show. The costumes were very dramatic, especially the hats as you can see from the photograph! (I was a terracotta Warrior!)
One event, which took place over a few nights, was the talent round. I managed to get into the final 15 out of 107 girls so I was really pleased. The final of the talent night was also Family night! Which was a big party for all the girls’ family, luckily my mum and dad were there so they got to see me perform my talent, which was lovely.
Before I knew it the night of the final had arrived. You could feel the nerves and excitement in the air. We all did a dance routine on stage in out gorgeous bikinis to open the show, and then came on in groups in our evening dresses. It was such a brilliant night and although I didn’t get into the final 15 I had the time of my life!
I’ll admit I was hard work at times and there were times I missed home but it was the experience of a lifetime and I wouldn’t change it for the world!

Congratulations to Miss China who won Miss World.

October 2007

October was a month of preparation and lots of Miss England appearances!

On the 9th I went to York where I had my photo taken with the ‘Loving Cup of England’ then in the afternoon I went to collect my very sophisticated luggage for Miss World!

Lots of Interviews, modelling and dress fittings took place throughout October.

On the 26th I went to a lovely event in Newcastle, which was a breast cancer charity dinner, which as I am sure you will all know is a cause very close to my heart. My mother came too and we had a really nice night.

I did two Interviews with NBC (a very big American TV channel) and appeared on the morning show, which made me want to become a presenter even more!

On the 29th I was in London again launching the RNID ‘Ear of the Year’ awards, then off to Channel Five studios for an interview on Channel Five News. On the 30th it was pack, pack, pack! To fly off to Miss World on the 31st, woohoo! China here I come!

September 2007
In September I went on a nice break to Greece for a weeks holiday. I arrived home on Sunday 9th and on Monday 10th I was jetting Off again!! This time to Malaysia.
Here is a photograph of Me and Eric Way.

My wonderful dress designer Eric Way flew me out to Kuala Lumpur for 3weeks to be there for the official opening of his new shop! It was incredible! While I was out there I dined on the most amazing food, and I modeled some of Eric's beautiful designs on the catwalk at the opening of his new shop.

Me modeling on the Catwalk!

I also Visited Limkokwing University Where I was made 'International Lifestyle Ambassador for 3 years! That was such an honour and pleasure. While at the University I took part in a photo shoot, modelling Eric's designs, which would be used as displays on the shop floor.

Some of the outfits I modeled.

While in Malaysia Eric also flew me to Langkawi which was a beautiful exotic Island. It was absolutely breathtaking. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Eric Way and Martyn Tickner for such an amazing time! it was wonderful.

August 2007

August was another busy, busy month! On the 2nd I was at Fairlight studios judging miss Teen Queen, where I met some really sweet girls, who seemed to really enjoy themselves. On the 3rd I went to Saddlers Wells theatre in London where I met some wonderful deaf children, who were having lots of fun. There I launched ‘Happy Mondays’ which is a project to get businesses to donate money so the children can take part in fun and exciting activities together.

On the 4th I did a photo shoot at Fairlight studios and then back to brands hatch again, but this time to the super bikes championships where I met James Toseland who came 4th in sports person of the year recently, so a huge well done to him.

Throughout the month I did so many great things, but one thing, which wasn’t so nice, was my injections I had to have in order to go to Miss World! Ouch, very painful, but well worth it!

On Friday 17th I went to model for my fabulous new hairdressers for the year ‘Bang’ in York, run by Jon and Sarah Cotton. The end of August was really exciting. I went to London to do 3 days of filming for Nuts TV for a show called ‘Will beauty call?’ it was absolutely brilliant and gave me a real taste for TV presenting. On the 28th I had a sign language lesson and did some filming for a TV programme called ‘See Hear’ with an organisation called ‘Deafway’. It was so interesting. Being Miss England is so exciting and unpredictable, and I absolutely love it!
